If we want to live comfortably, but also healthily, we should study, read, work in sufficiently bright rooms. Within the scheme of the project Multi-Comfort Saint-Gobain, it is recommended that at least in 60% of time between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. throughout the year the average light intensity in rooms should be at least 300 lux. The calculation is climate-based (Diffuse Daylight Autonomy):
By using the DIAL + software we verify whether a given room has a sufficient amount of natural daylight to be recognised as comfortable. We predominantly focus on living rooms and children’s bedrooms.
Our results will have a form of a report, the most important part of which will be the light intensity distribution in the defined period. We can change many elements, such as obstacles blocking out windows, the colour of the floor, the walls, interior design, and many, many others.
Currently we have climatic data for the following locations: Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Krakow, Poznan, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wroclaw, and the calculations will be performed for one of these locations.
Calculations in the DIAL+ software are performed thanks to the group cooperation within the scheme of the the MULTIComfort programme, the objective of which is to promote the highest building standards for the improvement of living comfort.
